More Board, More Foam, More fun 

Like all great things, you’ve got to start somewhere. SoCal Shredz started as just a crazy dream inside of a garage. Since I was 15 years old I loved to go to the beach and surf, ride skateboards, and just get dirty. Little did I know that this crazy idea would build into the surf company it has today. SoCal Shredz started making skateboards, back in 2013, but hadn’t found its stride as I was still in high school at the time and things just weren’t coming into place. It wasn’t till I found my group of four friends, that loved to surf. Every Saturday we would get up early and surf till we could barley move our arms. It was there that my love of surfing and the ocean came together and where the real idea of SoCal Shredz came to be. After looking for a new board, I couldn’t find one that I loved on a rack. Everything looked nice but I couldn’t feel the magic in it. Eventually I saw a beauty walking across the beach. And that is where I learned people actually make these boards! Talk about an experience, well I did what I could and scrapped together the money to get one lesson. Of course I made the biggest board I could, a 9’8 Noserider called big red. Its made to do one thing and thats nose ride. Needless to say, thats where the obsession started. I finished big red, and decided I wanted a shortboard. Well it didn’t stop there. I wanted to make another one and then oh let me try changing that one. Needless to say since that first board, all I’ve wanted to do is make another. I started shaping in my parents driveway, until eventually they said I wasn’t allowed to anymore. So from there I found a space in aloha glassing, and learned from Mike Michinton, and Mike Erspermer. I bounced around from shop to shop always gathering as much information as I could. Today I shape in Newport Beach out of Vartanian surfboards, continually learning and making boards that give people the ability to have fun. SoCal Shredz makes boards with more foam, and more board so you the surfer can have more fun! what could be better? Surfing is about enjoying the ride, and being in touch with the ocean and feeling the flow of your board and the wave. Every board I make is created with the rider in mind to make a board that unlocks the ability to have fun. The best thing about the boards I shape is that each one is made to be extremely fun and take your surfing to the next level.
